A couple of listeners called me to tell me we were off the air for a little while yesterday morning. I knew the reason already, as our tower was in need of maintenance. One who is a friend, joked that he was checking in to be sure that I wasn't sleeping in the studio and we shared a good laugh. I am so grateful we have listeners who take an interest in our station, and who listen in for their enjoyment and to hear positive messages and the word of God spoken through the scriptures and in the songs.
Is there someone you know who has gone astray? Who has left the church? Is there a neighbor who recently moved who may be looking for a church? When sheep "go astray" it is not always because they are lured away by wolves. They don't seek danger. Sheep can wander away looking for new grass or fresh water to drink. Somtimes people miss Sunday church because they sleep in, or do not want to go alone, or don't know where to go. On this "Good Shepherd's Sunday", the 4th Sunday of Easter, let us look around to see if we can shepherd someone and guide them to seek Christ and the message of hope, peace, and love that God has for all of us. Check in on someone today, just like those callers checked in on me, and tell them about Spirit FM or even offer to give them a ride to church. Just remember, it is not for yourself that are you reaching out, but for God, and to lead someone back to the Guardian of our souls is an amazing way to honor God today!
