God also said:
"See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth
and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food;
and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air,
and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground,
I give all the green plants for food."
And so it happened.
God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good.
Genesis 1 from the Easter Vigil Mass
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, for me it is easy to look around and see the new life that is in the buds on the trees, and the new flowers that are blooming. Many of us will enjoy an Easter meal tomorrow, and perhaps it will include the sacrificed desserts, foods, and/or beverages that were missed during the past forty days.
But in tomorrow's family time, let's not lose sight of the even greater sign of new life that is celebrated as we acknowledge the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior who reopened the gates of Heaven and the possibility of eternal life for you and me! We can honor the memory of our loved ones and pray for the family members yet to be born, all the while giving glory to God the Father in Heaven for all that He has made.
