Celebrate Life

By Elle
Years ago, a young man interned for me on the Saturday morning show, Kid's Kingdom.  I'll not forget when he introduced himself and as we chatted, and he casually mentioned that he was the seventh of seven brothers.

Now there were seven brothers; the first married a woman but died childless.

Luke 20:29

Years ago, a young man interned for me on the Saturday morning show, Kid's Kingdom.  I'll not forget when he introduced himself and as we chatted, and he casually mentioned that he was the seventh of seven brothers.  I expected him to somehow be kidding, but he was not. These scripture verses become so familiar that even details in our every day lives bring to mind familiar verses. The Saducees in this Gospel tried to test limits of Mosaic law and Jesus' understanding and teaching. Today's verse is from the daily Mass, and this Gospel passage ends : "they no longer dared to ask him anything."

I see the endless bantering of the current socio/political climate one where everyone tests each other.  Who gets attention? How much noteriety does it take to get noticed?  It is difficult to discern what is actually happening.  In today's Gospel passage Jesus clearly said about himself:  He is not the God of the dead but of the Living and He made us all to be alive in Him.   Let's continue to pray for unity and celebrate life, both here where we are now, and the eternal life that awaits us!
