Jesus said to them,
"Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men."

I remember standing in line on the school's field day, which was one of my favorite days, and waiting to be chosen for a sport. I like playing sports and I like field days, so it is a happy memory. I was the one beaming "pick me" , "pick me"! I didn't want the day to end I was so happy. If Jesus called me when I was a child from the sport field, I'm not sure I would have responded so eagerly, like Simon and Andrew abandoning their nets and immediately following Him.
Deos that mean I am not called? Of course not! We are all called by God to be the best version of ourselves that He created us to be. Thank goodness we are not chosen because of our good behavior or success or appearance. He "chose" us to get to know Him, love Him and serve Him as best we are able, and that would mean that we can learn the ways of Jesus and then strive to reflect the love and mercy that we are given to those around us. I hope today we can take some time and reflect on responding to God's call for us and pray for the grace to reply to that call.
