Being Childlike

By Elle
This past week the priests and the bishop of the diocese were on convocation and one topic they discussed in depth was the formation of the youth.

At that very moment he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,
"I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.

Luke 10:21

This past week the priests and the bishop of the diocese were on convocation and one topic they discussed in depth was the formation of the youth. In Rome in March, over 300 young people from all over the world gathered and more than 15,000 youth participated online to explore issues relevant to the challenges and opportunities of young people today.  You can see the results of their discussions on the link on the USCCB website, that's www.usccb.org

Young people want a sense of belonging, a world of peace, a better life, a society, a community they can trust.  What opportunities can we provide to listen to a young person today? hear what they want to say, and encourage them to become active participants in their comminities not merely spectators.  If you haven't noitced, these words can apply to all of us, at any age.  These are common needs for us, so let's aspire to become childlike, more attentive, even more trusting, reaching out to the youth, and not just being loud spectators on the sidelines, clamoring about how we only see the faults and the errors of others.
