For it was fitting that he, for whom and through whom all things exist, in bringing many children to glory, should make the leader to their salvation perfect through suffering.
Have you ever met someone and found out that they have been through the same difficult situation you have? Even if you've only known the person for 10 minutes, you immediately have a bond. I met a few women this past weekend who are divorced and I immediately sensed a feeling of solidarity, like we were survivors or the same illness. I guess this is why support groups are so popular and helpful. You feel like you're not alone. And when it comes to giving and receiving counsel, it's way more effective when it is from someone who has experienced the same thing you have.
This is why Christ's suffering is so important; God could have sent him to do his ministry and then just be raised up to heaven in glory for all to see. But he planned for him to suffer and die so nothing on earth is not subject to him. There is nothing we can't go to Jesus with. He is able to deal with every fear, every sin, every obstacle in our life of faith. If you're suffering now, don't miss out on the opportunity to be united with Christ in this profound way.
