"And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too, because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him." John 12:10-11
For a very short while my kids were the poster children for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It was a little weird and unnerving knowing that their faces were being used to inspire people to take up the cause of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. I can't imagine Lazarus' feelings after Jesus brought him out of the tomb. He was suddenly the poster child for the resurrection and not everyone was happy about that.
Lazarus didn't have to do anything to receive the gift of a second life from Jesus. But from that day forward his life was a direct testament to the deity of Christ. He must have needed incredible courage to venture around town after that. As we head into Holy Week and the glory of Easter, remember that we have been given the same gift as Lazarus. We are now dead to sin! Our very life should be a testament to Jesus.
Question for Reflection
Does my life proclaim the gospel so courageously that the enemy wants to destroy me because I am leading people to belief in Jesus?
Lord teach me to be a living testimony to your gift of everlasting life.
