Awaiting the Everlasting Storm

By Abby
As Central Floridians we know lightning...

"For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be [in his day]." - Luke 17:24

As Central Floridians we know lightning. We even claim to be living in the lightning capital of the world, but in truth, the holder of that title is Lake Maracaibo in northwestern Venezuela. Nocturnal thunderstorms occur on average about 297 days per year and there can be thousands of strikes per night. The phenomena is called the "everlasting storm."

When lightning strikes, even just once, you take notice. Whether you're sitting outside having dinner on the patio, watching tv on the couch, or even sleeping - an encounter with lightning commands your attention. You never have to say to the people around you, "Did you see that lightning?" They saw it!    Jesus tells His disciples that when He returns, they won't miss it. Don't worry guys, you won't have to hear about it second hand. You'll know. So live each moment preparing and proclaiming the Good News of the real "everlasting storm" that we all await.

Do you eagerly await the day of Christ's return?

Father, show me how to encounter You more fully every day, so that my heart longs for Christ's coming.
