Luke 17:1-2
He said to his disciples, "Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the person through whom they occur. It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin."
Anyone who has raised a child knows that they learn more from watching you than from what you try to teach them. We've all had those moments we are less than proud of when our child repeats a phrase that slipped from our lips in a moment of pain or anger. Jesus knows that these type of slip ups will occur. But we need to remember that it is our responsibility to hold ourselves to a higher standard. The age old mantra of "Do as I say, not as I do" doesn't work with God. We are pretty good at remembering this around our children. At least we tend to try a little harder around them… but Jesus is not only speaking literally here. He is also talking about people who are young in faith. Let's take a closer look at our walk with Jesus today and see if it really matches up with what we are preaching.
