Feast of St. Joseph
Matthew 1:20
Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord* appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her.
I don't know about you but sometimes I'm spiritually hard of hearing. It takes a lot for God to get through this thick head of mine. Maybe Joseph was spiritually hard of hearing too. He needed an angel to come down and give him direction. So at least I can rest in the knowledge that I am not alone.
It may seem weird that we celebrate the feast of St. Joseph in the middle of Lent. By the time we get to Christ's sacrifice on the cross St. Joseph is out of the picture, scripturally speaking that is. But if you think about it things seem to come together. Lent is about reflecting on our obedience to God. Joseph is a great example of that. He could have run away from the trouble of a young supposedly inexplicably pregnant wife. But he chose to be obedient to God instead. As we continue our Lenten journey think about the angels God sends into your life to reveal His plan and how you can be obedient to it.
