Peanutbutter And Jelly

By Davis
So to combat the fight over who got the larger portion I implemented...

Luke 6:38

Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."

By the time my children could reach the counter and safely handle utensils I taught them to cook for themselves. Mostly because I was tired of always having to make them snacks! It is truly surprising how much children eat! The only problem with my plan was that they began fighting over the snacks that were made. Inevitably the one making the snack would take a larger portion or themselves. The favorite snack was of course a PB&J. So to combat the fight over who got the larger portion I implemented Rule #3476 "Cut and Choose". The one who cuts the sandwich must allow the other to choose their own piece. I swear to you those kids kept a ruler in the kitchen from that day on!

No one want's to be treated unfairly, yet we are all greedy to some extent. How do we get past this instinct of self preservation that constantly tells us we need to be on the lookout for ourselves? How do we get past the urge to cut ourselves a bigger piece of the sandwich? As you continue your journey through Lent look for ways to allow the people near you to choose their piece of the sandwich.
