One of the most precious gifts God gives us when we follow Him is perspective. The light of the Gospel helps us focus on the things that really matter and not waste time on those things that the world may encourage us to give our attention to. This new vision does offer clarity and focus but it does not mean the Christian life is easy. In fact, because the Word of God can often be at odds with our own desires, it will sometimes make life difficult and more complicated. That is the cross Jesus is talking about in this verse. It is the weight of the Gospel and it is worth carrying. Just as the cross couldn't contain Christ, the complexities of being a Christian in this life are no match for the Glory to come!
