David continued: "The same LORD who delivered me from the claws of the lion and the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." Saul answered David, "Go! the LORD will be with you."

You've got to love the story of David and Goliath. It's the ultimate underdog tale by which all underdog stories are measured! Some whippersnapper who has no business setting foot on the same battlefield as a great warrior like Goliath, takes on this mountain of a man in single combat... and wins! Unlike the Rocky movies or countless other stories about unlikely challengers emerging victorious, David's triumph had nothing really to do with having, "the eye of the tiger" or wanting to win more than the other guy. The key to his victory was trust. He trusted that, although he was seemingly outmatched in this fight, he wouldn't be standing alone. This was God's battle to win and David was confident in the Lord delivering victory. Let his example remind us always that believing in yourself is nowhere near as powerful as trusting in the Lord.
