We've heard that the love of money is the root of all evil. This fixation on money isn't really about wealth but about what the wealth brings: power. The idea being that the more money you have, the more control you can have over your circumstances and the world around you. Jesus is the most powerful person in human history because He is also God. Therefore, if anyone were capable of controlling His surroundings, it would be Him. What did He do with that power? He used it to serve. Choosing not even to save His own life on the Cross, in the ultimate act of service. He is our model for how we should wield any power we've been given. We should use it to serve others.
