The Driving Force

By Martina Ver Pault
Working in the church, I have to say, is the greatest job in the world...

“The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.”

Mark 6:13

Working in the church, I have to say, is the greatest job in the world!  I love to see God work.  Through the years, I have seen the Lord heal so many people through priests and even lay people.  Recently we had a healing Mass with Fr. Michael Barry, and I was blessed to witness a few healings.  We also have some powerful prayer warriors who pray over each people.  At our retreats, we pray over each other.  The Lord works in great and small healings. In our Gospel today, we hear how Jesus sent out His disciples to heal the sick and drive out demons.  The healing power is in His mighty and holy Name.

He gave them the authority.  He also gives us the authority, but we have to tap into it.   Today is the memorial of St Blaise, known as a healer and physician of souls.  This is the day that traditionally we have our throats blessed.  It’s a great day to get back to church if you haven’t been in a while.  Come and get reconnected, re-energized, re-committed to the Great Physician, the Great Healer.  The doors are open to welcome you home.

What kind of healing would you ask the Lord for if you knew the answer would be yes?

Dear Lord, we are all in need of Your healing touch; please touch us.
