When asked to describe ourselves, there are a variety of things we could mention. We could explain what we do for a living, where we are from, or even our family's history. These are the distinct things that differentiate us from others, that make us unique. We should be care to not confuse these pieces of information about us with our identity. The single most important thing that defines and unites all Christians is who we are in Christ. It is the foundation of who we are and a strong foundation indeed. It's the only thing we can build our life on that can withstand anything the world can throw at us.
Question for reflection:
Am I allowing my faith to be the foundation of who I am?
Lord, help me to trust you as the foundation of my identity.
