Practicing forgiveness can be extremely difficult sometimes. Christians are called to not only forgive those minor transgressions we can let go of easily, but also injuries that cut us to the core. We should not neglect to ask for God's grace in the latter situations and for the desire to practice forgiveness. It may help in certain situations to remember that forgiveness does not mean you approve of or no longer recognize the wrong done. The transgression forgiven may still have lasting effects: a broken friendship, hurt feelings, etc. Still, forgiveness allows us to let go of bitterness and move on.
Question for reflection:
Is there anyone in my life that I'm withholding forgiveness from?
Lord, give me the grace to choose to forgive, even when that choice seems impossible.
