Luke 7:34-35

"The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, 'Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is vindicated by all her children."

We've all encountered some task we haven't wanted to do. We may know the importance of getting the task done and still find ways to not do it. In being confronted about not doing it, it's common for us to produce some excuse. As young people those excuses will often be directed at the person who assigned us the task. As adults, making excuses to ourself (and to God) becomes more common. We see our shortcomings more easily and will try to justify ourselves. People do the same thing when encountered with the Gospel as well. Some will feel a stirring in their soul but find some excuse to not use it as an opportunity to encounter Jesus; such may have been the case with those who called Jesus a, "glutton and a drunkard". Even we as Christians can find ways to justify not doing God's will even when we know it's what He wants us to do. Lord, give us the grace today to follow you wherever you may lead us without excuses and to be fortified in doing your will by your unfailing love. Amen
