Remembering God's Faithfulness

By Fernando
Does this verse describe you? Contextually, it's referring to the Israelites in the desert. They were brought out of Egypt and shown all kinds of wonders and still doubted whether God and his servant Moses had their best interests in mind.

Psalms 106:13
But they soon forgot all he had done; they had no patience for his plan.

Does this verse describe you? Contextually, it's referring to the Israelites in the desert. They were brought out of Egypt and shown all kinds of wonders and still doubted whether God and his servant Moses had their best interests in mind. It's easy to think, "Well, if I had seen what they saw... I don't think I would have had that same attitude." I'm not sure that's true. I think, in general, all of us are too quick to question God's plan. Some of that inclination arises from a lack of trust; but I think it also comes from forgetting his past faithfulness. The great things God does in our lives are too often pushed out of our minds in favor of focusing on the latest struggle. Try this: next time you notice God do something uniquely awesome in your life, make it a point to remember it. You could write it down in a journal, buy some little trinket and put it on your desk to remind you, or (if you're feeling especially ambitious) build an altar. God is always faithful and working for our good but it's still helpful for our faith to remember those times we actually notice His hand in our lives.
