Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24
It can sometimes be tempting to look at our relationship with God as a private thing. It is, to a point. But God also sees living in peace with our neighbor as part of living out that relationship. Fulfilling an outward religious duty is not a substitute for living in right relationship with God and others, they should go hand-in-hand. Our offerings to the Lord should pour forth from a life seeking His will in our relationships and interactions. This means treating others fairly, as children of God deserving of our love and respect.
Question for reflection:
Can you think of a relationship in your life that needs to be mended?
Lord, help me to seek peace with you and others daily.
