Being a Christian in America is definitely harder than it used to be. Our culture seems to be more hostile than ever to those of us who choose to live out our faith publicly. In addition, the forces looking to remove symbols of faith from government property seem to be stronger than ever. That being said, it's important to put these developments into perspective. Christians still enjoy incredible freedom to worship in this country. We can live out our faith without fear of imprisonment or death and wield a significant political power. Meanwhile, those who claim the name of Christ in certain other countries live in constant danger of being punished, beaten or killed for their faith. This holiday season, remember these believers in your prayers and give thanks to God that we live a nation where we can worship God in relative safety.
