Praise the Lord for our Protection

By Martina Ver Pault
The readings today are screaming to me to trust in the Lord...

“Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD, For he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!”

Jeremiah 20:13

The readings today are screaming to me to trust in the Lord. He’s got this!  “Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD, for he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!” There is so much wickedness out there right now. I certainly don’t need to innumerate them for you.  I suppose we are being called to carry the cross as the Lord Himself did.  But just as Jesus is in the Gospel today is protected from evil, so will we be, if we put our trust in the Lord. One great model for us, of one who trusts the Lord, is Jesus’ own mother.  She trusted that, no matter what, the Lord would be her protection.  Let’s look to her, not just as someone to emulate but as our mother. For next week, from the cross, Jesus will give her to us as a mother.  As we prepare to enter Holy Week on Sunday, let’s join together, help each other carry the cross.  Let’s sing to the Lord and praise the Lord for His protection.  Maybe we could meet under Jesus’ Sacred Heart through Mary for protection from the power of the wicked.

Are you willing to recognize and praise the Lord for His protection?

Lord, help us see Your mighty power as You protect us from evil, and help us courageously live the Gospel.
