It seems there is no shortage of people to argue with these days. From politics to religion, there are more opportunities to battle over ideas than ever before thanks to social media. Sure, arguments are not a bad thing and can often lead to understanding but too often they devolve into a virtual screaming match. How does this inform Christ's desire that we seek peace with everyone? Well, I think there is a big difference in arguing (or rather engaging in discussion) to win and doing so in order to learn and impart truth. Any such exchange should always be engaged in with a spirit of peace, never employing personal attacks and never seeking to demean the other person in any way. Disagreements can be contentious and even heated at times but they don't have to leave you feeling unsettled in your spirit. Say your peace, argue your point, listen to the other person, seek to understand and you may even find it an enlightening experience for all involved.
