I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance. Luke 15:7
There's a sign posted at the exit of the parking area of my church which says "Our mission begins now". In other words, what we just did at church was great, but now our job begins; to go out - as the disciples did - and share the good news. We are the shepherds in search of lost sheep as Jesus shared in today's gospel reading. And every time we find one who returns to the church or joins us for the first time we celebrate!
There is a reason why Jesus hung out with sinners. He knew they were the ones who needed to hear his teachings most. As His followers we should be eager to share how Jesus has worked in our lives and let others know that he wants to do the same for them. It's as easy as inviting someone to a church function or saying you'll pray for them. There are many lost sheep out there. Let's go round them up and let them know they are loved.
