Mark 9:40

For whoever is not against us is for us.

Social media can tell us a lot about how we interact these days. One clear observation is how much we argue. Some ideas you'd expect people to strenuously disagree on but others are so trivial that it's hard to even understand why it warrants the back-and-forth at all. Christians on or off the internet are not immune to this phenomenon. We'll argue about everything from the doctrinal to the downright petty. That is not to say that arguing (respectfully) about certain things is unacceptable for Christians but it's key to always keep things in perspective. We should be careful not to assign the same weight to all of our disagreements. For example, differences of opinion and discussions about how sin changes us and how God's grace works in our world  should be treated with much more weight than debating whether flip-flops should be worn to church or whether 'cry rooms' are a good idea. This isn't to say that the discussions holding lesser weight aren't worth having but we should never afford them the same gravity than things of higher importance. If we do, we risk seeing the people who disagree with us about the smaller things as somehow less than fully Christian, rather than brothers and sisters with whom we respectfully disagree about certain less-than-vital things.
