How Wonderful it Would be to be Counted among the Blessed Ones!

By Vivi Iglesias
Pope John Paul II declared this day as Divine Mercy Sunday...

Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

John 20: 28-29

Pope John Paul II declared this day as Divine Mercy Sunday. The conclusion of the Octave of Easter, and a time of gratitude for the gift of love, mercy, and forgiveness bestowed upon us. Our Lord, God himself, revealed to the disciples in the resurrected Son and in the Eucharist that we receive as we fully trust and believe, our Lord… our merciful God!

It was Sister Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun from the 20th century, a present-day witness of God’s complete love, who shared in her diaries the recounts of visions and revelations from Jesus himself. Through her writings, we continue to be encouraged to trust and strive to live in God’s grace. Many Divine Mercy chaplets, devotions, and prayers are shared around the world as one church, one humanity that pleads for peace, human dignity, and love.

We are called to give others the same mercy we received from the Lord in the love that the Resurrection teaches. A miracle that comes from fully believing, trusting completely, and giving ourselves to the other! How wonderful it would be to be counted among the blessed ones! I believe in your Resurrection Lord, I do!!

Do you reveal to others the compassionate heart of Jesus that Sister Faustina prayed for and wrote about in her diaries?

Jesus, we entrust ourselves to you, help us go forth in justice, grow in peace, and share with those we encounter your divine love and mercy. Amen.
