Leap of Faith

By Vivi Iglesias
Today in the first reading, Moses encounters the Lord in the burning bush...

"Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again;

but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:13-14

Today in the first reading, Moses encounters the Lord in the burning bush, and in the Gospel of John, we hear of Jesus’ early moments in public life as he encounters the Samaritan woman at the well. Leaps of faith and trusting moments when the heart and soul trusted the Lord!

Encountering people where they are is the best way in which the Lord enters our hearts. He goes down, deep in the wells of our souls, and with his saving water he helps us see how much he loves us.
We have all experienced these moments when leaping was the only thing to do, and every time we were reminded how the Gospel and our lives intercept. We must be attuned to those moments, but even if we are not, the Lord continues to call, he keeps at it, always there to quench the thirst. Like Moses and the woman at the well, we must open up and be ready to understand how deep our faith is.

Take the first step today and help others who are thirsty receive this life saving water. Jesus at the well was the water; the burning bush the passion and Love of the Lord. Both readings invite each of us with fire and water to quench the thirst of those around us and in the world in need. Be brave! Take the leap!

Who do you say I am? How long can you hold onto that question before you leap and answer?

Lord, help us share Your Love and bring comfort to those in need. Amen
