Psalms 46:2

God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in distress.

Well, another American election is in the books. I think I can speak for most of us in saying I'm glad it's over. Around half the nation is elated, and almost as many are heartbroken. Now it's time to do what we're always told we should do at the end of every election: come together. But how can we do that when we are so divided and the wounds of the campaign season are still so fresh? I believe the answer is by choosing to rededicate ourselves to the only agent for change and force for good we can always count on, God. Doing so means choosing to love as He calls us to love. The victors should remember that millions of people in this nation are heartbroken right now. These voters are your neighbors and they need to know that they will be cared for and supported even though their choice will not be occupying the White House. They need to know you've got their back. Those distraught by the result should guard against despair and choose to not resent or harbor malice toward those who voted differently. Don't let sadness morph into hatred. Most of all, we need to always remember that our hope should always be focused on God. He alone is the remedy for what ails us as a nation and as individuals.
