One of the most powerful tools in spreading the Gospel is the goodness of believers. As human beings, we are naturally wired to be attracted to holiness. Even if someone doesn't understand where a Christian's motivation for the love they show others comes from, they will take notice and admire it. Our example has a way of bypassing any intellectual arguments people may have with Christianity. People will listen to people they see as doers of good. I think this may have been what Herod was experiencing with John the Baptist. He was intrigued enough to listen, even though he was perplexed. Let's strive to live lives that attract others to who we follow so they can come to know the reason we strive for holiness.
