Have you ever misunderstood God's plan? Have you ever imagined His will being accomplished one particular way and it doesn't turn out how you imagined at all?

Luke 24:25-26

And he said to them, "Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory?"

 

Have you ever misunderstood God's plan? Have you ever imagined His will being accomplished one particular way and it doesn't turn out how you imagined at all? This seems to be what these disciples on the way to Emmaus were dealing with. Even thought Jesus laid out what would happen, that He would suffer and die but on the third day rise again, the darkness of the crucifixion overshadowed the hope they had in Christ. Their trust was shaken. Sometimes the dark moments in our lives can shake our trust too. We can also lose heart when things don't work out the way we planned. In those moments, remember that nothing escapes God's attention and that He is always near.
