He is present.

By Br. Lucius Amarillas
Today's feast celebrates more than just a household visit among the Holy Family...

"The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear."

Zephaniah 3:15

Today's feast celebrates more than just a household visit among the Holy Family; instead, we may commemorate Jesus' divine presence! Notably, in today's Gospel, we read that Jesus' presence among the extended family of our Blessed Mother caused Elizabeth to be delighted and especially the child in Elizabeth's womb. Even the unborn John the Baptist acknowledged and celebrated the presence of Jesus during this visitation of Mary.   Our first reading from Zephaniah illustrates the incredible peace and jubilation that God's presence will bring to His people. But I hope you will join me in considering how well do I celebrate or revere Jesus' presence in my life?

Do I only revere His True Presence at the Eucharistic Sacrifice, or do I also recognize Him in those I encounter at home, in the parish, at work, and in ministry?

My Lord and my God, You are present; help me recognize You in those around me. Amen.
