Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
A common gripe that people have with Christianity is the, "rules". These people often see following Jesus as just following a certain set of behavioral prescriptions we often find at odds with our own desires. To see the Christian faith as only that is to miss the point. God wants us to live our lives to the fullest and be everything we're called to be. In his mercy, He's showed how to do so through His Revelation. Part of that message is to define those things that cause us to stray from that path, namely sin. Just like a loving parent who gives their children guidelines for play so they don't hurt themselves, God's commandments define those boundaries we should live within in order to be the amazing people we are called to be. Our Father loves us and wants what's best for us. That's the whole reason He gave us the commandments. Part of loving Him is doing what He's asked us to do, or not to do.
