God Is With You In The Comment Section

By Davis
My friend Chris said something that turned out to be quite controversial on social media the other day...

One night in a vision the Lord said to Paul, “Do not be afraid. Go on speaking, and do not be silent, for I am with you.

Acts 18:9-10

My friend Chris said something that turned out to be quite controversial on social media the other day. Without calling anyone out by name he shared about a prominent pastor who made a comment on social media about a specific group of people he didn’t like. The pastor included the vomit emoji in the comment. Chris’ response was that he didn't’ believe Jesus would want us to treat a group of people that way. It’s ok to disagree with another person's lifestyle but if you call yourself a Christ follower it’s not ok to degrade a child of God. I was honestly surprised that Chris got pushback for this comment.   It had me asking the question, “Is God with me in the comment section?” In today’s first reading we see Paul preaching in a forigen land and he’s honestly worried about his safety. God sends him a vision letting him know that he is safe to preach the love of Christ. You probably don’t have the benefit of having visions from God. (I know I don’t.) But you do have the knowledge that God is love. (John 4:16) Therefore, if you are preaching love you know that God is with you.  Check out Chris’ post here. Do I treat all of God’s children with the love and respect they deserve? Even in the comments?

Lord, put your hand on my shoulder today and steer me toward a loving attitude to my neighbor.
