From Ordinary to Extraordinary

By Davis
There have been many times in my career working in ministry when I felt like I let God down...

Observing the boldness of Peter and John and perceiving them to be uneducated, ordinary men, they were amazed, and they recognized them as the companions of Jesus. Then when they saw the man who had been cured standing there with them, they could say nothing in reply.

Acts 4:13-14

There have been many times in my career working in ministry when I felt like I let God down. I either didn’t prepare enough for a talk, or I said something on the radio and as soon as I turned off the mic I thought “well that was garbage”. Sometimes when I’m feeling like this I get an unexpected compliment from an audience member or a call from a listener telling me I said exactly what they needed to hear.

Isn’t it great that God can do extraordinary things through me, and you, when we just step out of the way? Let your ordinary-ness show, because when God works through you and the world sees you as ordinary. The only other explanation for the greatness coming out of you is that it’s a miracle from God.

As you journey through this Easter season how can you let the light of the resurrected Jesus shine through you?

Heavenly Father, thank you for being bigger than me. Give me the grace to let your love flow through me today.
