Acts 5:29b

We must obey God rather than men.

We are all bound to obedience. Whether we are following the our own desires or God's plan for us, we all choose the road we follow. The Apostles clearly knew what path was the correct one and passionately stuck to it, preaching and baptizing as the Lord called them to do. This was in the face of steady persecution by powers who wanted to be obeyed. The witness of these courageous early Church leaders should be an encouragement to us. Obedience for many of them eventually meant death but they were willing to pay that price for the sake of the Gospel. The message of God's love is that important.

Question for Reflection

How can I walk more closely with the Lord, even when I feel I'm facing resistance from the world?

Lord, help me follow you over all worldly powers that would seek my obedience.
