AUTHORITY IN SERVICE OF OTHERS

By Fernando
History is filled with people who have misused and abused the power they've been given. The temptation to put our authority to work for us...

Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28

History is filled with people who have misused and abused the power they've been given. The temptation to put our authority to work for us rather than for others is too great for many to resist. However, those who fight this desire have a powerful model in Christ. Possessing divine power yet still fully human, He lived a life of service even through His death. God incarnate, He still bent low to wash His disciples dirty feet. We should look to do the same (figuratively - or maybe literally) for those we've been given authority over, not letting pride or appearances get in the way of serving others.

Question for reflection

How am I putting the authority I've been given to the service of others?

Lord, help me to see the situations around me daily that could benefit from the talents and position I've been given.
