Oh Judas, you should have known better than to lie to God. He knows that you'll betray Him! It's easy to see Judas as "the bad guy" of the Passion but I think it would do us well to recognize those times in our lives...

Matthew 26:25

Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" He answered, "You have said so."

 

Oh Judas, you should have known better than to lie to God. He knows that you'll betray Him! It's easy to see Judas as "the bad guy" of the Passion but I think it would do us well to recognize those times in our lives when we act like him. Have you ever tried to justify some sin before the Lord? Have you ever played the part of Christian without ever actually living a life pursuing God? It may be uncomfortable but I think we should all admit that there's a little bit of Judas in all of us. There's a part of us that wants to ransom our our life in Christ for the sake of worldly rewards. That's what we do when we sin. But as Judas learned with his silver, and us when we reconcile with God, the world's treasures cannot begin to compare with the blessings, joy, and fulfillment found in following Christ.
