Luke 11:2

He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come."

The "Our Father" is easily the most widely known prayer in all of Christianity and for good reason. It was taught directly to the disciples of Jesus by the Son of God Himself. In doing so, He gives us not only a beautiful prayer many of us can recite by heart but also a pseudo-template for all prayer. Just look at how it begins; with an acknowledgement of the greatness of God and a petition for His will to be done. We don't need to necessarily start all our prayers with this statement. What seems more important to God is that we offer prayer in this context; in the context of praise and a desire for His will. Most of us see the importance of praying for the latter but may be confused by the former. God wants our praise, it's true. However, He doesn't want it because the one who brought the universe into being out of nothing needs to build up His ego. It is because we were made to do so in loving Him. So, let all our prayers be lifted to God in this context.
