(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis drew attention to the fact October is the Month of Missions during his General Audience on Wednesday.He invoked the Virgin Mary, Queen of the Missions, in his traditional special blessing to young people, the sick, and new spouses; inviting them to pray intensely to her during this month.“Dear young people, be missionaries of the Gospel in your circles with the mercy and tenderness of Jesus; Dear sick and infirm people, offer your suffering for the conversion of those faraway, and of the indifferent; and you, dear newlyweds, be missionaries in your family by announcing with Word and example the Gospel of salvation,” said Pope Francis.

Washington D.C., Oct 5, 2016 / 01:57 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Marking the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Catholic University of America has released a toolkit to help connect victims with the resources they need.The toolkit was assembled by Catholics for Family Peace Education and Research Initiative, a part of the university’s National Catholic School of Social Service.It includes several links to resources from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Charities, the National Domestic Violence Hotline and other organizations that combat domestic abuse.
