Luke 5:4b-6
""Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch." Simon said in reply, "Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets." When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their nets were tearing."
Today we have this invitation today to "put out into the deep," Simon Peter and the disciples had been fishing all night, and had come up empty when Jesus met them. I know if it were me, I'd be tempted to say, "I don't know Lord, I'm pretty tired and this isn't working. Maybe tomorrow." And that's basically what Simon Peter is thinking, but despite that he goes back out to cast his nets one more time. Much to his surprise, his nets are overflowing. So much so, that the boat is in danger of sinking.
How often in our own lives do we hear that call from Jesus, to put out into the deep, and ignore it, or give him a little less than he's asking for? Jesus is asking us to be bold in our yes, but with that comes the promise that we will receive in overabundance! Are you willing to say "Yes" to Him in all things? Are you willing to radically follow the direction He gives? If so, you will be amazed at what He does in your life.
