Daniel 3: 91-92
Then King Nebuchadnezzar was startled and rose in haste, asking his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?" "Certainly, O king," they answered.
"But," he replied, "I see four men unbound and unhurt, walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God."
A furnace is not a fun place. It's certainly not the place of comfort or convenience. A furnace is a place of purification and melding. Yet it is within the furnace that God draws near. We so often don't want to go there. We don't want to go to that place of radical trust. We don't want to go to that place where we might be melted down, purified or forged. However that furnace, that forge, that place where we don't want to go is precisely the place where God desires to meet us.
