Willing to Correct Us

By Fr. Chuck Dornquast
Today's reading shows us that Jesus is clearly willing to correct us...

Lk. 11:45

Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, "Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too."

When my grandma told me that I wasn't holding the cards right in my hands I didn't like it. When my math teacher told me that I wasn't dividing fractions right, I didn't like it. When my mom told me I added too much salt, I didn't like it. But they each corrected me so that I might become better. Today's reading shows us that Jesus is clearly willing to correct us—even if it hurts our feelings. Do we allow ourselves to be insulted by Jesus? He certainly is not desire to insult us but rather to reveal to us a better way to live, the best way to be fully alive. Where is the Lord speaking correction into your life? Are you willing to receive it?

The best way to unwind is tent-camping, cooking dinner over a fire, hiking and reading a book.
