Who has sent you?

By Teresa Peterson
My father was a man of few words...

“The works that the Father gave me to accomplish, these works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me.”

John 5:36

My father was a man of few words. He was the strong, silent type. However, my father was a man of action. He worked two jobs to afford Catholic school tuition for his five children. He worked as a mechanic during the week, and he worked on weekends fixing cars, leaky faucets and broken bicycles.  He also brought us to Mass each Sunday and prayed reverently in church. His actions showed us that faith and family were important to him. His actions showed us who he was. The works that Jesus accomplished gave witness (testified) to his divinity.  I hope that I can live up to the example given to me by Jesus and by my father. I hope that my works speak of the person that I am, my values and my purpose. As I strive to courageously live the Gospel, I hope that the people I encounter will know who has influenced me, who has molded me and who has loved me into existence. They will know who sent me.

What have you done in the past week to testify that you were created by God out of love for love?

Lord, Help me to do what is right and when I fail, help me to seek forgiveness and try again.
