A little over five years ago, while I was living a wayward lifestyle, my mother had an interesting dream. In this dream Mary appeared in the sky holding the child Jesus. My entire family was marveling at the sight outside of the minivan's windows as we rode toward a Basilica dedicated to Our Lady located in my parent's native country. The only person in the car who could not see this apparition was me. I kept asking my mother, "Where is she?", as I looked up into the sky.
I know – it's just a dream. I know – Mary is a touchy subject for some. Nevertheless, I can say with a full heart that developing a filial devotion to Mary has helped me yearn to know Christ deeper and more intimately. Where is Mary in your life? Have you ever asked her to pray for you that you may love Jesus ever anew?
Interestingly, famous paintings of the Annunciation sometimes depict the angel Gabriel genuflecting when asking Mary to accept God's proposal. Mary, the only creature of God able to address God the Father as father, God the Son as son, and God the Holy Spirit as spouse, pray for us!
