Isaiah 48:17
"I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way your should go."
As a child, I remember my parents responding exactly the same way God responded to the Israelites. Everybody, at some point or another, can remember their parents saying, "I know what's best for you." The thing was it was never something I enjoyed hearing. Nobody likes to hear that as a child. Why? Because we think we know what's best for us.
Therefore, if I know what best for me, I'm going to do what I want and suffer the consequences. Whenever we sin, we are choosing what we think is best, but God waits patiently, awaiting the day we turn to Him. Today we celebrate the Memorial of St. Lucy, an incredible woman who followed God until the very end. Because of this, after losing her eyesight by those trying to kill her, they were restored before her death.
Let us ask St. Lucy to help restore our spiritual eyes, dismissing the darkness, allowing the light to shine through. God teaches us what is good, and leads us on the way we should go. Therefore, let us ask to see as God sees, as St. Lucy herself saw!

As I finish my first semester of third theology, excitement is beginning to settle in. Excitement toward ordination to the Diaconate in a little less than five months. I am humbled to know that God has chosen me, with all my faults, just the way I am.
