“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.
Luke 2:29-32
Don’t settle for a consumer’s Christmas. The birth of Christ is an experience that is far too important to be delegated to a single day. For 8 days following the 25th, the Church celebrates the Octave of Christmas. 8 days to reflect on the great gift which Christ is to us. 8 days to echo the words of Simeon that we truly have seen our salvation. Consider ways that you can celebrate this octave. Invite neighbors over for drinks or dinner. Attend daily mass at your parish. Support Pinellas Hope or a local food pantry. Christmas ain’t done yet, let’s keep celebrating.
How can I celebrate Christmas today?
Jesus may you increase in me a deep sense of gratitude for your Incarnation.
