"Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace forever." – Responsorial Psalm (Ps. 72)
We've just entered the season of Advent, a time of waiting and preparing for the coming of a Promised leader who will show justice and bring peace to all the world. In today's Responsorial Psalm, "Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever" articulates this well. This leader cares for the poor, afflicted, lowly and poor.
Advent tells us to wait and see – but a lot of times we are not good at waiting and we are too busy to stop and see. We can overlook all this and think more of the days for shopping, running out or trying "be good" so Santa gifts us.
However, courageously living the Gospel, we know it is in the coming of Christ that justice and peace shall flourish. Jesus, filled with the Spirit, is a model for serving, caring leaders and for all of us. Jesus shows us God in His life and actions. Blest are we who see and hear Jesus. Blest are we who are called to bring and BE that Jesus to our world.
What can you do to see and hear Christ more this Advent? When have you seen or heard Christ present today? Have others been able to see and hear Christ through you today?
Loving God, help me prepare for Christmas by opening myself to Your Word and responding to the needs of others, by seeing Christ in others and being and bringing them Your presence. Help me proclaim the Gospel with my life. I make my prayer in the Holy Name of Jesus. Amen.
