To Seek And To Save

By Joshua Bertrand
Usually one of the last things I grab before heading out the door is my wallet...

Lk 19:10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.

I was about to head out the door for an evening with some friends a while ago, and usually one of the last things I grab before heading out the door is my wallet. I usually place this important and necessary piece of my wardrobe on the same spot on my desk in my room. This time when I went to grab for that all too familiar feeling of leather, I was shocked to see it not there. I quickly panicked, and went into a whorl-wind trying to look everywhere that this so little, and so important packet of my life was hiding. As the seconds started to become minutes I started to become more and more nervous, my mind quickly jumped to endless hours on the phone with various credit card companies and banking customer service operators closing accounts and issuing new cards. At that moment I was fully focused on finding this small thing, so important to my life. Looking back, that must be the same feeling God has in pursuing us, constantly communicating himself to us, constantly extending his love and mercy toward us. I found the wallet a few minutes later, it fell in between the padding on my reading chair, but I also received a taste of what is means to allow myself to be found by God.
