Mark 16:6
He said to them, "Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here.
Today is the high point of the Church year…it is Easter! We have journeyed through the desert of Lent; humbled ourselves at the washing of the feet; endured the nails and wood of the cross. Today we rejoice in the promise that Jesus made….that he would be raised from the dead. The tomb could not hold him. The gates of hell would not prevail. His friends were told what would happen, yet had some trouble comprehending something that had never before happened. This discovery in the tomb was like the final pieces of a puzzle that is now coming together to fully understand the big picture. We see it because we know the story. But the disciples were still putting the pieces together. We all know the story, yet for many of us today, the belief in Jesus remains a mystery. Parts of our faith are a mystery, yet for more than 2000 years, this story is repeated and our faith grows. Today let us celebrate the mystery of our faith and the tradition to pass along our faith to future generations.
