What is worth losing sleep over? I don't know how many of my classmates have pulled an all-nighter to finish a paper or study for an exam...
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Matthew 24:42
What is worth losing sleep over? I don't know how many of my classmates have pulled an all-nighter to finish a paper or study for an exam. People have stayed up waiting for new releases or to be the first in line when something opens. It's easy to lose sleep with stress and anxiety over the uncertainties of life. And I can't help but ask myself: is worth it? Maybe if it was in a hospital room with an ill loved one. Or maybe if it was a parent caring for a child in the middle of the night. What about spending the night in a prayer vigil waiting on the Lord?
Is my relationship with God worth giving up sleep for? What if I rose a little earlier and stayed up a little later for prayer time?
Lord, give me a deeper desire for prayer and a willingness to sacrifice time for you.

We are a family of many faces, of many cultures, languages, religions and traditions...
Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
MT 24:42
We are a family of many faces, of many cultures, languages, religions and traditions that forms a beautiful human family. We are not defined by our color, language or culture, rather, these are aspects of our person that show the world the beauty within making us equally beautiful in the eyes of our Lord. Love is what defines us!
The Lord calls us to "Stay awake! For you do not know when the Son of Man will come." St. Teresa of Avila knew this and reminded us that as people of good will, children of God, we are the hands, the feet, the eyes, and yes, the heart through which the light of God shines onto others. It is through our actions that we share compassion, that we teach our children understanding, and that we impact future generations with that love that is blind to differences. Love that is equal to all and unmeasurable!
Let us teach and model kind and just values, Christian values. These traditions and teachings will help us make our humanity kinder and stronger and to be ready for when the Son of Man returns. Teach values that will rebuild a sense of compassion, respect for life, freedom and peace that our nations long for! Stay awake!
Are we teaching Christian values that model our faith?
Lord, may we learn how to share compassion and peace. Guide us as we use our talents to teach and model Your love to others. Amen!
